Our Story
Nantucket’s only overnight shelter for the unhoused
Founded on compassion and community, The Warming Place provides shelter and support for people experiencing homelessness on Nantucket. We work closely with local partners to create a safe, welcoming place built on care, trust, and long-term sustainability.
Mission
To provide a warm and safe daytime and overnight shelter for individuals experiencing homelessness. We will create a compassionate and supportive environment through a collaborative relationship with medical and social services.
Vision
To offer a year-round daytime and overnight shelter and expand our services to include those at risk of becoming homeless. We partner with other organizations to maintain or find alternative housing and work to identify wrap-around services when needed. All of this is provided in a caring, respectful, and dignified environment, with a commitment to guiding those we serve toward greater independence.

Who We Help
Helping Those in Need
Today, we serve individuals who are literally homeless. These homeless individuals lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence and may camp, live in cars, or shelter in places not meant for human habitation, such as sheds or construction trailers.
Our programs are designed to provide support, resources, and safe shelter to those most in need in the Nantucket community.
